Cuba: The Whole Island is an intimate photographic portrait of Cuba by Cuban photographer Víctor Cervantes. Created from twelve years of photographing his homeland, the book captures the people, streets, traditions and everyday moments that define the island, exploring what it means not simply to know Cuba, but to feel it.
Born in Cayo Hueso in the heart of Havana, Cervantes began photographing at around six years old, developing black and white film with his father in their Centro Habana home. His photographs reveal Cuba through the eyes of someone deeply connected to its language, culture and people, balancing its beauty and warmth with its hardship, nostalgia and longing.
More than a collection of photographs, Cuba: The Whole Island is Cervantes's personal expression of his country and the bond Cubans carry with it wherever they may be. As he writes, whether inside or outside the island, Cuba goes with them.
