The Saphir Edge & Heel Restorer is a precision marker designed to revive scuffed midsoles, heel edges, and leather edge dressing with a clean, durable finish. Long used by professional cobblers throughout Europe (under the name Saphir Tanil), this formula penetrates the leather edge effectively, remains flexible once dry, and restores color with impressive longevity. Available in Neutral, Black and Dark Brown, it provides controlled, mess-free application ideal for both quick maintenance and detailed refinishing.
The pen’s specially shaped tip follows the natural width of a shoe’s edge, allowing effortless touch-ups without excess product. Its water-based pigment-wax ink delivers smooth, even color that resists cracking and avoids creating a heavy surface. Once the edge is restored, you may further refine the finish with your preferred cream or wax polish for a seamless, professional appearance.
Application:
Press the tip down and push into a sheet of paper or napkin repeatedly until the wax begins to flow through the pen. Apply a thin, even layer along the sole or heel edge and allow it to dry for ten minutes. Keep a clean chamois around to clean off excess wax as it will flow heavy during first uses. Store tip facing upward.

The purpose of this video is to show you how to take your unfinished edges and heels and refinish them to produce a highly polished dress edge and heel. There are several approaches one can take towards edges and heels.
Beginners: The Fiebing's Sole and Edge Dressing is a quick and easy solution. It effectively recolors, but there are limited color options (the brown is too light) and does not produce a high shine.
Advanced: the Saphir Cream Polish works great to recolor edges and heels when applied by hand. Then use the Saphir Mirror Gloss to lock in the pigment and elevate the shine. The Saphir Teinture Francaise Leather Dye also works great for recoloring before the application of Saphir Cream polish. This is Kirby's preferred technique.
