This mild yet effective cleaner removes daily soiling and excess wax, preparing the leather by opening its pores for optimal absorption of nourishing creams and polishes.
Enriched with natural Montan wax, it leaves behind a fine protective layer that enhances shine while preserving the integrity of delicate finishes. Perfect for cleaning smooth leather, oiled leather, oiled nubuck, and cordovan, this cleanser is especially recommended for high-quality leather goods, helping to preserve patinas and the foundation of a mirror shine.
Its unique formula allows you to control the depth of cleaning—light applications maintain glaze and patina, while deeper treatments can fully strip wax layers when desired. After use, leather is left supple, clean, and ready to receive Saphir’s premium maintenance products.
Application: Shake well before use. Apply sparingly with a clean cotton cloth using circular motions. Allow to dry for 15 minutes, then buff to a soft luster. Repeat as needed for a deeper clean.

Regular cleaning of leather shoes is essential to their long-term maintenance by preventing the buildup of waxes, resins, and dirt that can otherwise clog leather pores and cause cracking. Especially for those transitioning to Saphir Shoe Polish from ordinary polishes, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your shoes with Saphir Reno'Mat to remove any resins, wax buildup or petroleum products left by prior polishes. This ensures that the leather pores are open and able to fully absorb Saphir Medaille d'Or's high concentration of waxes and nourishing agents.
For regular cleaning of dirt buildup, we recommend the Saphir Leather Cleaning Soap. The gentle formulation is not overly aggressive and contains leather nourishing agents to help prevent the leather from drying. For more thorough cleaning, the Saphir Reno'Mat will remove any accumulated waxes or resins.
