The Pelikan M1000 Maki e Four Seasons Lucky Charm is a remarkable expression of Japanese lacquer artistry, handcrafted by master artisan Ishikura Mitsuhiro of the Kaga Hoshukai. Using the intricate Kaga Togidashi Takamaki e technique, layers of lacquer and precious powders are applied over deep black urushi and carefully polished by hand to create exceptional depth and detail.

Inspired by a traditional deck of playing cards, the four suits are reimagined through the seasons. Clubs and cherry blossoms represent spring and happiness, diamonds and flowing water symbolize summer and wealth, hearts and autumn leaves represent love and transformation, while spades and snow embody winter, courage, and resilience. Together, the motifs create a symbolic celebration of the changing seasons, fortune, and the passage of time.
