A remarkable vintage cigar ashtray from the Maximilian Foulkes collection, crafted with a combination of shagreen, mother of pearl, and natural bone.
The exterior is wrapped in cream toned shagreen, while the interior bowl and three generous cigar rests are lined with iridescent mother of pearl. Each piece of mother of pearl has been individually fractured, set, and lacquered to create a smooth surface while preserving its natural variation and depth. A trim of cow bone frames the interior and provides a subtle contrast between the materials.
Three wide cigar rests accommodate larger ring gauges, making this a substantial and functional piece for the smoking table. As a vintage piece, natural variations and signs of age should be expected and are part of its individual character.
